ABOUT US
Steve Morrison

Steve was brought up in London and began playing guitar at an age too early to remember. His father played the guitar and he was blessed with the opportunity to be around guitars all his life. Steve's ability to blend bass-lines, chords and melodies into a seamless guitar style has made him the envy of many musicians. He has also spent his life exploring the potential of alternative guitar tunings and the use of the bottle-neck in the pursuit of original sounds with which to build his repertoire.

SOLO

Audiences are often overwhelmed to see one man play two or three musical parts on the one instrument.  And even more astounded that it seems so effortless. As a guitarist and song writer he brings something  distinct to  the  blues. He is a master of open-chord tunings  and  his bottle-neck  guitar  turns heads. To see him play his guitar is to see something very natural. The lyrics are delivered by a warm, passionate voice that combines with the guitar to give a powerful performance. Authentic is a word that comes to mind when considering Steve Morrison and his music.

DUO

Steve has recently begun collaborating with the blues legend Billy Jenkins creating the "HERE IS THE BLUES" duo. Billy and Steve are both energetic and spontaneous performers and their union brings a dramatic and distinctive edge to blues music. Billy's frenetic and blistering guitar style is original and breath taking to watch and blended with Steve's warm and powerful rhythmic playing they create a huge sound filled with many surprises. TRIO - Steve, Al Richarson & Al Hughes

The "Steve Morrison Trio" brings together the Harmonica of Al Richardson and the Drummer Alan Hughes. Both men come from a blues background and this allows them to think on their feet. Always watching Steve, they move around loosely arranged frameworks that means each performance of a particular song is unique and keeps the music as fresh as the day it was written. Al Richardson is a true master of his instrument and Al Hughes has so much fun playing the drums Steve has threatened to stop paying him.

BOOGIE WOOGIE
Steve's partnership with the pianist Richard Ansell is packed with a raw Saturday night rhythm & blues energy. Richard brings extensive musical knowledge to the pairing and satisfies one of Steve's passions, Boogie Woogie. Together their boogies and rock & roll numbers thunder along like trains. But there is also Richard's classical background which lends subtlety and elegance to many of the arrangements: tasteful use of melody and chords riding along side Steve's earthy delta blues feel. richardansell.com
TRIO - Matt Steve & Al - "THE GREENWICH BLUES MAFIA"

Steve's longtime partner and friend, Al Richardson, is a great Harmonica player. The sounds he gets out of that tiny instrument are a wonder to behold. He and Steve performed some of their first gigs together as well as busking regularly to fine tune their skills build up stamina and earn a bit of cash. Al also brings a rich and powerful voice to the trio and when he wants to he'll use his harp to tear up the world and leave you spellbound. Like Steve says, "You can't suck a sax". Matt Percival  is  one  of  those  musicians  that everyone  should have in  their band. As a rhythm guitarist you just feel his presence in the underbelly of the song. Steve says," I don't know what he does, but when it stops there's something missing". His lead guitar has a sweet vibrato that makes every note count and leaves audiences very satisfied. His  musicianship  and gift for vocal harmonies add sophistication to the act. A natural musician, you will see him singing, playing bass guitar, washboard, and drums.

THE BAND
And.... when you bring them all together with the enigmatic Bass Guitarist, Roy Tempest, they're very expensive but it's also very satisfying
